TNB taja dermasiswa MyBF kepada 1,760 pelajar baharu B40

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) meneruskan komitmen membiayai pelajar daripada keluarga berpendapatan terendah untuk mengikuti pengajian di institusi pengajian menerusi tajaan 1,760 lagi Dermasiswa My Brighter Future (MyBF) bagi tahun 2021.

Penyerahan Dermasiswa My Brighter Future (MyBF) melalui Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN) kepada pelajar bagi sesi pengambilan 2021 itu disempurnakan oleh Pengerusi TNB, Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin di Dewan Serbaguna Kompleks Sukan Ibu Pejabat TNB, Kuala Lumpur, hari ini.

Menurut Hasan, sejak MyBF diperkenalkan pada 2018, lebih 6,800 orang pelajar B40 menikmati pembiayaan pengajian masing-masing meliputi yuran pengajian, penginapan, elaun sara hidup dan sebagainya sehingga tamat pengajian.

Selain MyBF, katanya, TNB melalui YTN yang ditubuhkan pada 1993, turut meneruskan komitmen pemberian biasiswa dan pinjaman boleh ubah kepada para pelajar pengajian tinggi. Hingga kini, lebih 20,000 pelajar menerima manfaat daripada seluruh program bantuan pendidikan dengan anggaran tajaan melebihi RM1.3 bilion.

"Membangunkan modal insan negara melalui penyediaan peluang pendidikan adalah satu daripada inisiatif tanggungjawab korporat TNB, selain daripada program-program berkaitan sosio-ekonomi, alam sekitar dan sukan," katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.

TNB memperuntukkan RM49 juta bagi membiayai pengajian pelajar MyBF pengambilan 2021 di lebih 45 institusi pengajian di seluruh Malaysia dalam bidang berkaitan sains, teknologi, kejuruteraan dan matematik (STEM) serta Pendidikan dan Latihan Teknikal dan Vokasional (TVET).

Menurut Hasan, Dermasiswa MyBF dikhaskan kepada para pelajar daripada keluarga B40 tanpa sebarang ikatan atau pun bayaran balik. Pemilihan pelajar dibuat berdasarkan pangkalan data Bahagian Kemasukan Pelajar IPTA, Unit Pusat Universiti (UPU), Sistem e-Kasih dan mereka tidak perlu membuat permohonan mahu pun melalui proses temuduga.

Surat Tawaran MyBF dikeluarkan bersekali dengan Surat Tawaran ke IPTA oleh institusi masing-masing bagi memastikan isu kewangan bukan masalah utama pelajar untuk memulakan pengajian. Inisiatif TNB ini diharap bukan sahaja dapat meringankan beban keluarga berpendapatan terendah bagi menampung kos pengajian, malah kemudiannya membolehkan anak-anak mereka membangunkan kerjaya yang lebih baik demi masa depan diri dan keluarga serta masyarakat.

Daripada segi pencapaian pelajar, 33.4 peratus pelajar MyBF berjaya mendapat CGPA 3.50 dan ke atas pada semester 2 tahun pengajian 2020/2021 dan analisa pencapaian akademik mendapati purata keseluruhan pelajar yang berjaya mencapai tahap CGPA 3.00 ke atas adalah melebihi 75 peratus.

Program MyBF bukan sahaja memberi bantuan dalam bentuk kewangan tetapi juga membangunkan kompetensi pelajar bersama-sama nilai dan budaya murni yang mementingkan kesejahteraan sejagat termasuk dalam aspek penjagaan alam sekitar.

Sebagai simboliknya, TNB turut mengadakan acara menanam pokok bersama pelajar pada majlis penyerahan MyBF itu dalam usaha menerapkan nilai kelestarian dalam budaya kehidupan generasi masa depan. Ia seiring inisiatif Hala Tuju Kelestarian TNB dengan sasaran pelepasan sifar bersih yang menyumbang kepada usaha menangani perubahan iklim.
