Transitioning from secondary school to tertiary education is overwhelming for many students. Most of these young adults will be leaving home for the first time, and this newfound independence brings with it many changes. This transition entails a vast list of new tasks such as the newfound need for better time management, greater self-discipline, and a considerable increase in personal responsibilities.
As a way to help students ease into the new aspects of their lives, YTN actively organises orientation programmes for new Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN) scholars who are preparing to pursue their tertiary education at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), as well as universities abroad. The YTN New Scholars Orientation programme is an opportunity for students to gain exposure and inform them of our policies, procedures and the expectations that we hold for all our scholars.
Participants can look forward to talks by former YTN scholars that share their own real-life experiences, group exercises for ice breaking, knowledge sharing sessions, class exercises, simulation, and sports activities. By the end of orientation, we hope to foster closer relationships between our new scholars, past scholars, and even our staff. The orientation is highly recommended by scholars alike, as not only scholars should take this time to learn or pick up some tips along the way, but it would also prepare them to face tertiary education.
